Mesotherapy & Microneedling FAQs

Mesotherapy & Microneedling FAQs

If you’re new to mesotherapy and microneedling, it can be confusing to know where to start. So we’ve put together a list of frequently asked questions about mesotherapy products and using them with microneedling. This FAQ is a guide and professionals should always use their own judgement and work to their own level of training and capabilities.

How many ingredients can I mix together?

No more than 4 is the guidance offered by the manufacturers of our mesotherapy brand, mccosmetics.

Which ingredients can I mix together?

All of the liquid professional ampoules, vials, and cocktails from mccosmetics are compatible, excluding the oil-based topical ampoules which are not suitable for mesotherapy or microneedling. While it is possible to create any combination, it is good practice to choose ingredients that have a similar target, such as anti-ageing.

Venolaureth is the only exception, and the manufacturer recommends that this be used independently and not be mixed with any other ingredients.

How much product should I use when microneedling?

This depends on the area and sometimes which ingredients you are using. The total solution should not exceed 10ml over the entire face, 5-8ml is often plenty. When treating the body, 20ml is the recommended maximum per session. This is up to 10ml per leg.

There are a few products that should be used sparingly. These are the maximum quantities recommended by mccosmetics:

Product

Max Per Session

Dexpanthenol

1ml

Collagen Pyruvate

2ml

Chondroitin Mesoplus

2ml

Cellastabyl

1ml

This is the recommended maximum per session, including if combined with other ingredients to form a cocktail.

What serums should I use for microneedling and mesotherapy?

Only sterile products should be used. All mccosmetics professional ampoules, vials, and cocktails are completely sterile and manufactured to extremely high standards. These professional products are all water-based. Oil-based topical ampoules are not suitable for microneedling and mesotherapy.

How long do vials last?

Vials (including cocktails) have a seal covering the product. Providing this stopper has not been removed and sterile needles have been used to extract product, vials can be kept in a cold, dark environment for approximately 1 week. Any exposure to sunlight should be avoided as it can cause the product to spoil.

How long do ampoules last?

Ampoules are sterile but don’t have a seal so once they have been opened, they must be used all at once or the remainder discarded. Ampoules are usually available in quantities that can be used up in a single session to avoid wastage.

How do I mix my mesotherapy products together?

Most professionals opt for a hypodermic syringe to extract the appropriate amount of the product from a vial so that the remainder of the vial remains sterile and can be used again. Using the syringe, further ingredients can be added by extracting the necessary amount from freshly opened ampoules. The needle can then be removed and safely disposed of, leaving a bespoke cocktail in the syringe ready to be applied to the client’s skin.

If you are mixing 1 ampoule and 1 vial, for example, and you intend to use the entire solution, some choose to extract the product from the ampoule and inject it straight into the vial and shake well to mix.
